Hard by the ruins of the ancient Roman Agora, stands the Tower of Winds or Horologion of Andronicos.

Built in the 1st century AD, of pendelic marble, by Andronicos of Syria, this octagonal tower is 42 feet tall and 26 feet in diameter.

The roof forms a low octagonal pyramid composed of 24 slabs of marble held together by a round keystone.Originally it was surmounted by a bronze triton which served as a wind vane.
