The Argolid has been immortilaized by Homer and others in Myth and epic poetry. This Greek Prefecture has a long history with many of Greece's most famous ancient sites convieniently located in a beautifull landscape.

Its winters are mild and summers warm and dry. Comprising 2,145 km the Argolid has several low mountains with names as ancient as history: Oneia, Trapezounda and Arachnaio. There are also numerous smaller hills which remind one of Austria. These are interspersed with several rivers, the Erasinos being the most famous.

Exactly on the site of ancient Argos lies modern Argos the prefectures capital. The most attractive town of the prefecture however, is Nafplion, on the sea and a short drive south from Argos.
