Level requirements : Relatively easy hikes and activities for beginners (3 –4 hours per day), good start for a first outdoor holiday. The walking is on a mixture of dirt tracks and well – constructed stone mule paths. Our trips are designed for active people who enjoy energetic days. We expect participants to be in good physical condition.
Santorini, is not accidentally the most famous of the Greek islands worldwide. Despite the fact that many could characterize it as a very crowded touristy site no one can deny its irresistible charm. Enjoy and explore the island now in October when the climate is ideal and the prices are low! Our self-guided program is designed for active travelers who wish to avoid the crowds and indulge in the culture so as to experience the real authentic character of worldwide famous Samtorini.
Day 1 – Arrival in Santorini and afternoon sunset hike to Oia
Arrival to the port or airport of the island and transfer to your hotel in Fira or Imerovigli town, the most convenient and scenic places for your holiday. In the afternoon hike the Caldera Trail with amazing views to the volcano arriving to Oia for probably the most photographed sunset in the world. O/N in Santorini.
Day 2: Santorini Sea Kayak: South Discovery & optional Akrotiri site visit
Suitable for both beginners and experienced sea kayakers that wish to explore the most beautiful beaches of Santorini, today’s route is full of views of spectacular rock formations, crystal water and lovely beaches. En route we will stop at Kambia beach for snorkeling and a light picnic. Return back to Akrotiri, where we can enjoy lunch in the seaside tavera. Sea Kayak: 6-7 miles, 4 hours (paddling time)
Optional visit to the unique archaeological site of Akrotiri. A Minoan Bronze Age settlement, destroyed in the Theran eruption about 1500 BC and buried in volcanic ash, which helped preserving the remains of the Frescoes and many objects and artworks in great condition. Enjoy a guided tour by a professional guide who will give us all the valuable information about the site. . O/N in Santorini.
Day 3: Santorini Volcano – Hot Springs Tour
Sailing from Athinios Port to the island of Nea Kameni, there you have the opportunity to climb on the top of the volcano and see the active crater.
Next stop is PaliaKameni, where you can swim in the hot springs created thousand years ago by the underwater power of the volcano! After the boat sails to Thirasia Island, where you can eat in the picturesque small taverns near the port, swim in the crystalline waters or walk to the village of Manolas on the top. The last stop of our cruise is the small port of Oia you can visit the village of Oia and admire the famous sunset.
Day 4: Santorini hike Pyrgos to Ancient Thira & optional wine tasting
Transfer in the morning to Pyrgos village. Till 1800, Pyrgos was the capital of the island, and is nowadays a beautiful settlement with traditional houses, build on top of a hill, around the Venetian Castle. After wondering in the picturesque streets, we will start our ascent to Profitis Ilias peak, to enjoy the wonderful views of the island. After a brief stop, continue to Ancient Thira, a very well preserved archaeological site, with astonishing views to the beaches below. After admiring the site, we will start our descent to Kamari beach, where we can swim, relax and enjoy lunch.
Once back to our hotels, optional visit to a local winery for some wine tasting, before dinner.
Day 5: Departure
Transfer to the port or airport
