You may send your mail 'express' for faster delivery, Cost about 2.50 EU.
You can combine express with registered depending on the country you want to mail it to. Give these directly to the Post office employee who will then toss them into a pile somewhere. Do not put them into a neighborhood mail box (pictured right). Its always the other countries fault in Greece!

You can send your dear old grandmother, or anyone at all for that matter, 2 kg or under worth of pistachio nuts or something (but no liquids) without having to go through all the rigamarole of douane or customs stamps and declarations. They sell, in larger PO's, little boxes for you to ship right there after waiting in line. Then you pack it up and wait in line again. But you need your own magic marker, tape and so on.
You may receive mail, if you brought your passport and ID with you, care of any Greek Post Office if it is addressed and stamped to you, care of the Post Office like this:POSTE RESTANTE
YOUR NAME HERE
XYZ POST OFFICE, XYZ GREEK ZIP CODE
XYZ TOWN, GREECE
It costs you nothing and they'll hold the mail a month usually or even longer if the sender writes on the envelope:
