The church survives without notable interventions and is of the architectural type predominant in Athens at that period, cross-in-square with a dome. The dome rests on the two walls of the sanctuary and on two columns topped by Roman capitals.
Tradition has it that the emplacement for the two howitzers that badly damaged the Parthenon, during the seige of the Acropolis by the Venetian Admiral Morosoni, were near the church.
