These pictures of Athinas Street look relatively sedate but that's an illusion. The rest of the street is a mad house filled with little shops, stalls, vendors, fishmongers, vegetable sellers and lots more. In fact, this is the cheapest place to buy some items such as food in all of Athens. It has the best selection of home grown Greek food stuffs anywhere.
Here, bottom left, is a cheese shop and center, a view of Athinas Street terminating in Monastiraki Square with the Acropolis reigning above. To your right as you face the Acropolis on Athinas street begins the warren of small streets where many immigrants have chosen to set up shop. For several blocks to your right you will find many groceries and even a restaurant or three featuring Indian, Egyptian and Chinese staples and even clothing.
